In this tutorial, you will learn simple box modeling, and making a simple structure.

1. In 3ds max, click the create tab.
	A. Make sure that in the drop down box standard primitives is selected.
	B. Under object type, select box.
2. Click and drag to create a box that has a length of 300, a width of 300, and a height of 100.
	A. Move the box to the coordinates of X: 0.0, Y: 0.0, Z: 0.0.
	B. Check under the parameters that the box has 1 length segment, 1 width segment, and 1 height segment.
3. Select the box. Under the modify tab, click the drop down box that says "Modifier List", and select "Edit Mesh".
Another way of doing this is to right click on the box, in a view port, and under "Convert To", select "Editable Mesh"

	I. Clone and move these vertices 10 units on the "X" axis. They should be at X: 150
8. Under "Selection", select "Polygon.".
	A. Under "Edit Geometry", select "Create"
	B. Create the inside, top, and bottom faces of the walkway.
	C. Create the inside walls, for the second floor, around the walkway.
	D. Finsh creating the rest of the walls for the second floor.
	E. Next create the floor for the second floor.
	F. Creat the outside wall for the second story.
9. Create a cieling for the first story by using the inner 4 vertices.
10. Select the front 2 vertices at Z: 120.
	A. Clone and move these 2 vertices 50 units on the "X" axis. They should now be at X: 200.

	C. Clone and move these 2 vertices 50 units on the "X" axis. They should now be at X: -200.
	D. Select the 2 side vertices and move (do not clone) them on the "Y" axis 50 units. They should
now be located at Y: -200.
	E. Select the other 2 side vertices, and move them 50 units on the "Y" axis. They should be at
	     Y: 200.
11. Select the vertice (when facing the 2nd floor walkway) that is in the back left corner.
	A. Clone and move this vertice 180 units on the "X" axis. It should be located at X: -20.
	B. Clone and move the new vertice 40 units on the "X" axis. It should now be at X: 20
	C. Select both of these vertices and clone and move them 150 units on the "Y" axis. They should be at
	     Y: -350.
	D. Move (not clone) the 2 vertices down the "Z" axis 120 units, until they are at Z: 0.0.
	E. Clone and move the 2 bottom vertices 10 units on the "Y" axis, so they are at Y: -340.
	F. Clone and move the top 2 vertices 10 units down the "Z" axis, so they are located at
	     Z: 110
	G. Create the side, top, and back faces for the ramp.
12. Select the 4 outer vertices.
	A. Copy and clone them 10 units down the "Z" axis, so they are at Z: 110.

	     the 2nd floor door.
	B. Make the faces to the right side of the structure.
	C. Create the same faces except on the left side of the structure.
	D. Create the top 2 faces to continue and finish the ceiling.
	E. Next create 2 more faces to finish the floor.
14. Select the 4 vertices make up the front wall for the 2nd floor, near the walkway.
	A. Clone and move these 4 vertices 50 units up the "Z" axis. They should not be at Z: 270.
	B. Move (do not clone) the same 4 vertices 25 units across the "X" axis, until they are at X: 120.
	C. Select the same 4 vertices, except the back 4.
	D. Clone and move these 4 vertices 50 units up the "Z" axis. They should not be at Z: 270.

15. Now create the faces around the base to make the outer slanted walls.
	A. Next create the tops to these walls.
	B. Finally create the inner slanted walls.
16. Select and delete the very bottom 2 faces of the structure.
	A. Select the bottom 4 vertices that make the bottom of the structure.
	B. Clone and move these 4 vertices 10 units down the "Z" axis, until they are at Z: -10.
	c. Create the faces going around the structure.
	D. Finally create the 2 bottom faces.

Now that the structue is complete, you can try a common render effect called Light Tracer.

1. Select your model (the structure), and under the modify tab next to the box name (default is box01)
	   select the object color.
	A. Change the structure color to a medium shade of grey.
2. Press 8 to bring up the "Envioronment and Effects" window.
